So on Sunday I went and saw U2 in concert. This wasn’t the first time I had seen them- I went to the Zooropa tour in 1995, so I knew what I was expecting, and they didn’t diasppoint. Their show is more than just the music- it is an experience, and they use the whole stage and their crowd for benefit.Kanye West was the opening, and although he was also good, the crowd wasn’t much into him… it’s a completely different style of music, one that the Australian U2 fans aren’t into much.
Anyhow, we were in the General admission section, and to get the best seats we got there about half an hour before the gates opened. Little did we know how good a plan that was- while everyone else who arrived at that time went straight for the front ‘mosh pit’, we went for the barriers directly behind. It meant that in the end we had a couple of metres between us and other people in front, about 20000 people behind us, and a view 20- 50 metres from the stage. The only downside is we couldn’t move from our standing position for 7 hours straight. No sitting, no food, no toilets. No worries!
In other stuff, I have been accepted as an Xbox Ambassador. Woo. What it means is nothing more than I’m here to help. It doesn’t mean that I’m better than anyone else. Actually, I am, but that’s beside the point.
